From the era of Seaman Tommy Watson and Benny Sharkey, through to the likes of Billy Hardy and Glenn McCrory, and onto current contemporaries – the North East of England has always been a rich breeding ground for fighters.
Launched in November 2010, ‘North East Fight Scene’ (NEFS) aims to help you keep your finger on the pulse in a region where, once again, boxing is thriving.
John Hannen, NEFS editor, boxed (unsuccessfully!) as an amateur and has been writing about boxing for a number of years with much of his work being published by Boxing News (both magazine and website), as well as by the BBC and regional newspapers.
